World energy market developments in 2007 and at the beginning of 2008: data, tendencies and problems

The article analyzes global energy consumption and production trends in 2007 and price developments until mid-2008. It shows also energy balances of main exporting and importing countries (inclusive of by type of fossil), and the growing dependence of consuming states on foreign supplies. The article reviews efforts of the parties concerned to facilitate solutions of supply and price problems at various international forums.
